Keeping myself spiritually connected to my traditional teachings as an Anishinaabekwe.
I am taking daily walks to start my mornings in a peaceful calm way.
eating nutrient-dense meals with my family every evening
Get out in nature when I can.
I have learned to turn on the Do Not Disturb function on all my work devices after hours and relax on the beach on weekends while grading assignments.
I take a break for 5 minutes at the end of each hour, usually get a few steps in or 5 minutes to meditate. It does seem like much, but it does help.
I set a timer once or twice a day for 5-7 minutes and just do something mindless...watch a stupid TikTok or read an online article that has nothing to do with politics or COVID :)
I've been spending time w/my family creating memories, and writing in a gratitude journal daily to help keep me focused on the positives!
I created a "coffee & conversation" google classroom group for educators at my school. We share resources, positive messages, and chat!
Mentally : Watching Christmas movies it always makes my heart happy, other wise I journal and watch positive thinking motivational speakers. .
I've included yoga practice and journaling.
I have been trying to be more mindful by focusing on what's in front of me at the moment.
I take a bath in peace and quiet to decompress
Taking long walks and being mindful of nature and my surroundings.
I walk on the weekend and have recently started going to the gym again. I don't check my work emails in the evening!
I clean and cook everyday for my family, something I did not before and while I am doing this I listen to music through Alexa. It really helps me a lot during this time.
I have a scheduled weekly check-in w/some friends.
I play the guitarr when I feel overwelme. Also, in the evening I make exercise, sometimes a walk or inside bycicle.
I make it a priority to get 7-8 hours of sleep every night.
Enriching my spiritual life.
I am focusing on eating healthily and getting enough sleep.
Take 15-20 minutes outside in my garden or walk around outside for the same amount of time.
I make a point to reflect on the beauty in natural phenomena and share my observations with colleagues, friends, family, and students.

I complete with other people via Apple Watch Challenges. I run or follow a Beachbody program.
I'm reading for fun more often--I make myself get up an extra 30 minutes early to drink coffee and read before the rest of my family wakes up. I do this every day.
I’m drinking lemon water to stay hydrated, working out daily- walking in nature or doing yoga, or a workout program-, choosing healthier, cleaner food options, and spending time offline with family!
I continue to exercise and do yoga, get outside when I can, and do my hobbies.
I do a meditation app on most nights as I fall asleep. It helps manage my anxiety a ton.
Working to balance my work life and personal life
I make sure I start my day with the Lord, praying, doing devotions, being still. I find if I start my day this way things go so much more smoothly.
I am doing mindfulness strategies such as soft belly breathing.
I've made the point to wake up a little bit early and elliptical. I have also tried to pay more attention to where my stress level is at and trying to squeeze in some self-care when I can.
After my morning ZOOM classes, I take a walk outside...yes, even in Minnesota! It refreshes me!
I take time to start each day with a devotional time. It tends to be my only quiet time during the day!
I try to get out to walk in the sun at least 15-30 minutes a day, I also journal.
I work with a Wellness Coach 1day/week
I tend to go for coffee and sodas when I am stressed or busy. These dehydrate the body. I am making a concerted effort to force hydration by daily drinking half my weight of clean, ionized, alkalized water.
I make sure to stop working as close to the end of the school day as possible. It's not always possible, but I try to remind myself I can get back at the work in the morning. Teachers have a tendency to take a lot of work home and stay late after school, but I try to make sure to leave enough time to relax, spend time with family, and recharge with my favorite crafts/hobbies/movies!
