About This Lesson
Rare Diseases Lesson Plan is a lesson plan created by Laura Doyle of Atlanta International School. It was selected as a Rare Lessons winner. Rare Lessons is a Rare Disease Lesson Plan contest hosted by Sarepta Therapeutics. The program is intended to promote the development and implementation of rare disease education in the K-12 classroom.
Objectives:
- Promote understanding of the science of rare disease to 6/7th grade students
- Promote inclusivity and community building within the classroom and the broader community. Lesson plans must include an element of “real‐world applicability.”
- Promote inclusivity within the classroom, each section of the lesson plan must include accommodations and modifications for students with special learning needs and physical needs, for example, reading support, note‐taking support, physical space, or other accommodations.
