Sept. 11 is a federally recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance - one of only two on the U.S. calendar, along with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. For today’s students, 9/11 is history—something they may not remember or weren’t yet born to witness. Teachers have the unique opportunity to help a new generation understand the significance of the day, and to redefine it as a day of doing good. By guiding students toward acts of kindness, service and unity, we help ensure that the legacy of 9/11 is one of hope and compassion.To celebrate and support this important work, 9/11 Day has launched a special Teacher Sweepstakes, with prizes that are truly meaningful. Two grand-prize winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for themselves and a guest to New York City, including a private tour of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. Additional prizes include iPads and classroom technology tools to further support teaching and learning.
