A guided approach to adding and subtracting fractions.
What a great idea to get the children to work out how to add/sub fractions and why they make each step along the way
Brilliant resource. Excellently scaffolded for a topic that is often really hard for them to make the jump from level 5 to 6 with. Develops understanding as well as teaching the method. Thanks!
Thank you my class have been struggling with common denominators etc and now they get it.
Thank you for the clear, guided explanation of this concept. As a visual learner, it is great to see the "process" of working with fractions that is easy to walk through with the struggling student!!
I’m concerned when you teach the kids to multiply 1/2 times 4 and you get 4/8. That actually gives you 4/2 which is 2. If they memorized that method then later did it with a calculator it would give them trouble.
excellent. gets them to write their own 'how to notes'
