About This Lesson

This explores the Age of Absolutism and how it was influenced by the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Protestant Reformation, and Age of Exploration. Spain, England, France, and Russia are the examples, and I use a Magna Carta worksheet and "England from absolute to limited monarchy". The latter works by printing it out, cutting out the events, and students try figure out the right order. I also start the unit by reading Yertle the Turtle. I also use a book called Mad Kings and Queens to demonstrate Henry VIII, Louis XIV, Peter, and Catherine the Great and how nuts they were.
