ALAS (Spanish for "wings") is a dropout intervention program piloted with at-risk (low academic performance, behavior problems) Latino students in CA.
Elements: attendance monitoring, social and conflict resolution training, teacher feedback, training for family engagement, connections to social services.
Additional counselors and mentors work with students.
ALAS takes place in students' 9th grade year. Checkpoints at end of 9, 11.
