About This Lesson

Handout to support the practical investigation where the enzyme amylase is a carbohydrate enzyme that breaks down the carbohydrate starch into simple sugars. The presence of starch can be shown using iodine solution. When iodine solution is mixed with anything containing starch; the iodine changes from a brown color to a blue-black color. When all the starch is gone it will no longer change.
