About This Lesson

The music of the traditional cultures of South America are bright, joyous and lively. These are the qualities of Arco Iris, which means 'a rainbow.' Traditional music is combined with elements of jazz and pop. Lessons include learning a folk song and accompanying it with simple percussive patterns and guiding students in small groups to create original compositions that they will accompany with electronic, vocal and acoustic sounds. Universal themes of Transformation and Enduring Values are embedded throughout.
