About This Lesson
Investigate whether children are taller today than 150 years ago with this real life data from 1837. It was originally gathered to determine the age of children being sent to work in factories. (Reading tables; calculating averages; plotting and interpreting scatter diagrams.)
This is a great investigation requiring students to analyse some data in order to answer the question. They are encouraged to do calculations and represent the data in order to address the question. There are then a series of extension questions requiring them to interpret their findings in context. This would be a great informal assessment at the end of a unit on statistics. Thank you for sharing.
