This is a really nice activity to use when studying the application of algebra to area and perimeter. I like the kinaesthetic element and I think this would really help a lot of students to engage with it. There is an extension question at the end which requires students to substitute in values to their expressions. Great! Thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much - I have toyed with this idea before with some success, but the way you have set it out and structured it is great! Excellent activity.

I think this is great. It's kinaesthetic and involves some fairly tricky thought processes. I love the structure but also the potential for extension too!

I too think this is a fantastic resource, definitely one for the higher attaining students to get their teeth into when covering algebraic expressions of areas and perimeters and then substitution. Thanks.
