About This Lesson

Lesson Objective: Students will be able to prove that the formula for the area of a trapezoid is not the same as the formula for the area of a parallelogram, by counting unit squares, decomposing and recomposing shapes, and testing the (base x height) formula. Students will be able to calculate the area of trapezoids using the correct formula. Aligned with Common Core State Standard: 6.G.1
