About This Lesson

This is a single-point rubric. It is three columns. The middle column contains the satisfactory standard for their thesis, claims, evidence, analysis, organization, and conventions.  The left and right columns are blank so I can write feedback about why they did not meet the standard and how they can improve it (the left column) or how they exceeded the standard (the right column). This has worked much better for me than the classic rubric where I provide standard descriptors for each category and what a 1, 2, 3, or 4 quality looks like. Often, those rubrics don't fit each student neatly, and they have a hard time understanding it.
