About This Lesson
In 1912 Lawrence Massachusetts was one of the textile capitals of the world. Half of all the city’s residents worked in the mills. They worked in very dangerous working conditions. On January 12th, 1912 about 25,000 workers walked off the job to protest the deplorable working conditions. It was called the Bread and Roses Strike.
