About This Lesson
I created short summaries for four early Chinese dynasties. The students were divided into groups and instead of assigning each group a dynasty, I had the students treat each document as a piece of evidence. They had to code the text identifying the economic, political and social conditions that existed in each dynasty. The groups have a time limit with each document. I wrote on the board that they were taking on the role of historians. I incorporated at least one aspect of the Common Core Standards into every lesson.
