About This Lesson
In this activity the numbers have been exchanged for symbols. A key is given at the bottom of the page to show which symbols represent each number. The children have to work out the answers by adding the numbers represented by the symbols. An extension would be for the children to make their own symbol key and sums. Aligned with Common Core State Standards: 1.OA.1, Operations and Algebraic Thinking.
