About This Lesson
This is an adapted activity for chromosome assortment and meiosis. This adaptation has made the activity tactile and therefore made it accessible to blind and visually impaired students. This adapted activity; is now suitable for all students and not just those with or without a visual impairmant.
Look at PDF to see how to make chromosomes tactile! Thanks again for sharing! Before viewing this, I have used Wikki Stix to make chromosomes, distinguishing chromosomes sets by wrapping cotton thread around one set of Wikki Stix chromosomes and joining chromatids with blue-tac. Crossing over was demonstrated by cutting the relevant section of Wikki Stix and rejoining. To represent the cell, I used a large piece of paper and cut it in half, then half again to represent cell division in meiosis.
