About This Lesson

In this civil rights lesson, students will explore Jim Crow laws and the segregation that took place within the educational system during the 1950's. They will then explore the changes within the educational system that have taken place after segregation was ruled unconstitutional and the effects of this change on today's educational system. They will compare the two educational systems identifying similarities and differences between them. Lastly, students will identify ways that our educational system can be made better today.
