About This Lesson

What can we do in our everyday lives to help the environment? Why do these actions make a difference when it comes to climate change?

The attached activity has students analyze an excerpt about how our diet affects the environment. The short reading comes from a talk by Sam Kass, former White House chef and senior policy advisor for nutrition for the Obama administration from 2009 to 2014. Students will then research their own simple ways of helping the environment and explain how these actions can make a difference. As a concluding question, students will respond to what they think characterizes a "moral leader" for positive environmental change.
