About This Lesson

Students have learned about a variety of tools for solving ratio problems and have had some practice using them. To deepen their understanding of the relationships of equivalent ratios, scaling and unit rate students will use at least two different methods to solve a single problem. Then they will listen and speak about a variety of methods. Finally, they will practice using an unfamiliar method and compare it to a more familiar one. Aligned with Common Core State Standard: 6.RP.3
