About This Lesson
These two handouts can be used by students when they are role playing a Congressional Committee Hearing. The committee members and the rest of the students (in the audience) take notes on each question being asked of the sponsor of the bill and the sponsor's answers. Then, the audience evaluates the sponsor's performance using a simple rubric. Finally, both audience members and committee members explain in writing if they would vote for or against the bill, using evidence from their notes from the hearing.
