The lesson plan is designed for Colorado State Standards and would need to be adjusted accordingly to whomever uses it.

To integrate Common Core to the lesson, perhaps instead of explaining that Cole felt that the American wilderness was starting to disappear as a result of the industrialization of the nation, have students read a primary source of Cole's opinion. The students could analyze this text for his point of view and distinguish between fact, opinion and reasoned judgement in a text.

Colorado state standards are applied in this lesson, but this lesson could be adapted to address your state standards.

This is not a lesson or a plan. This audio file would only have value when in the context of a full lesson plan with instructional strategies, learning objectives, assessments, and differentiated activities.
