About This Lesson

Article III of the U.S. Constitution created a Supreme Court as well as giving Congress the ability to create “inferior courts,” which together make up the federal court system. Although the Constitution was vague in the role of the courts, their power and significance have evolved over time as one of the three branches of the the U.S. government. In this lesson, students will learn about the creation, role, and impact of the federal court system of the United States.
