About This Lesson

By attempting to decipher a sentence in which all content  words (nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs) are nonsense, students will become aware of grammatical indicators (suffixes, prepositions, articles, and/or conjunctions) to aid in making guesses about the meaning of the content words.  By recognizing these indicators in real sentences, students can often determine meaning from context.
