Different types of scientists. A scientist is a person who is trained specifically in an area. There are a lot of scientists with different specialties. They are trained and work hard to become experts in their area. if a scientific field interests you, you too can become an expert in it! Created by a teacher, designed for elementary students, and fun for all ages.

Elementary School Lesson. This is a lesson on different types of scientists. Ideal for kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grade. K-5.

In this lesson, the following scientific occupations are discussed and defined:

Botanist – Scientist who studies plants and their relationship to the environment.

Meteorologist – A scientist who uses science to explain and interpret weather patterns. They use math and science together to forecast the weather.

Paleontologist – Scientist who studies fossils.

Veterinarian – Medical scientist who studies animals and helps heal them.

Astronomer – Scientist who uses science and math to study space.
