About This Lesson

This lesson challenges students to reflect on themes of fairness, perception, discrimination and legality with regard to employment and to examine their own biases and related experiences. These activities will help students reflect upon where bias originates, identify discriminatory practices in the restaurant industry, investigate their own community and be able to explain the challenges and consequences of judging someone based on how they look.

More detailed lesson plans would be beneficial in this resource. Great ideas.

I love the "Who Am I" handout for my middle school students. They were able to see how bias and prejudice affects our judgements, and that these judgements are ones that we make without even realizing it sometimes! It was powerful for them to experience that.
