About This Lesson

This worksheet provides students with 6 different definitions of philosophy. The goal is for them to understand what philosophy means before they begin learning about actual Enlightenment philosophers. What follows the 6 definitions are 5 questions about how they would or would not like to act like philosophers, if they know of anyone who acts like a philosopher, how absolute monarchs would react to philosophers, and how the Renaissance might have influenced the emergence of Enlightenment philosophers.
