About This Lesson

Oxfam has written this activity for Mother’s Day, 2011. (Mother's Day in the UK is tied to Easter and therefore changed date each year.) It encourages young people to take action by participating in the global campaign to improve maternal health. In 2010, David Cameron wrote to young campaigners at Oxfam promising to prioritise health services and clean water for mothers if he was elected Prime Minister. We reproduce his letter one year later and ask young people to assess the progress made before writing a new message to the Prime Minister for 2011. What would you write to the President?
