About This Lesson

The lesson will begin with a review of the Roman Empire at its peak. After a launch activity, group work and class discussion, the class will then have a modified debate over which factor had the most influence on the fall of the Empire and which had the least. The objective of this lesson is that students will be able to explain the internal and external forces that led to the fall of the Roman Empire. Students will be able to categorize and debate the importance of the causes that led to the fall. Aligned to Common Core State Standards: RH.6-8.1, RH.6-8.2, WHT.6-8.1b
