About This Lesson

This lesson is the fourth lesson in the unit and is designed to pick up where the last lesson left off. Now that students have an understanding of the mean as a measure of center, they will delve deeper into the topic. This lesson builds on strategies used in the previous lesson by incorporating stacks of cubes. By the end of this lesson, students should be able to both calculate the mean given a data set and find a data point given the mean.**This is a long lesson, and if it is necessary to break it into 2 days, Slide 49 serves as a good stopping point.** Aligned to CCSS: 6.SP.2
