About This Lesson
This sample lesson plan lays out four or more sessions of Shared Inquiry activities on a rich, multifaceted folk tale, "The Gold Coin," by Alma Flor Ada. Activities include pre-reading, sharing questions, close reading with annotations, and text-dependent interpretive questions for discussion. Suggestions for writing and extension activities are included as well as ideas for student journal pages, assessment, and more.
