About This Lesson

To explain what 'fugue' means to the students; this gives a bar-by-bar account of the Fugue in C minor from Book 1 of Bach's Well Tempered Clavier. There are notes on the reverse. To help make the diagram more vivid; students could use color to highlight the entries of the three motifs. This fugue doesn't illustrate stretto; inversion; augmentation or diminution.
