About This Lesson

This inexpensive lab can be a fun, engaging culminating activity for the study of force and motion. Students will transform regular pipe insulation (which has been cut in half) into the track for their group roller coaster. The group design that attains the greatest "hang time," as measured by the time the marble is released until it lands, will have the optimum engineering design.
