About This Lesson

A fun machine for exploring number functions and estimating outcomes. Set the desired function from the drop-down list. (The function can then be hidden from the students if required.) Ask students to write down/visualize the outcome before asking the machine to check. Start with, say, 5 and challenge students to say what will happen if you double the number then double it again, before demonstrating. Use the adding functions to model counting on from the starting number.

Super real function machine - love the way you can hide the operation so that the children can work out what it is once they know how it all works. Lots of fun with this one. thanks
