About This Lesson

An extended task designed to exercise students skills with measurement; including area of triangles; Pythagoras' theorem; area of circles using p and calculations combining the results of each. There are two PowerPoints - the first setting out the problem in clear stages (ideal for students who need walking through the steps); and the second showing worked answers. There is also a printable worksheet to give students for reference; or as a standalone sheet.

I and my pupils really enjoyed this task. It is very much a functional task in that pupils are combining the skills to solve the problems. I added difficulty by presenting the slides from the geometry field problem as clue cards, the pupils then sorted the cards and determined the order which they needed to approach the task and solve the problem. Excellent resource and have recommend to all my colleagues. Thank you for sharing!

Excellent resource, pupils really went for it. I like Sharon Derbyshire's idea to give out the slides as clue cards which need to be sorted. Thank you for sharing!

Hello - I am the original creator of this resource and originally uploaded it to TES in the United Kingdom. It was originally constructed with students aged 11-14 in mind. I hope you find it useful.

Excellent performance task. As we are moving to common core and I am looking for more complex tasks for my students, this will be a great addition to my lesson.
