About This Lesson

American composer George Gershwin gave the world a large collection of enduring music. In 1934 he revived his famous song, I Got Rhythm in Variations for Piano and Orchestra: I Got Rhythm, which is featured in this unit. His entertaining romp for piano and orchestra is delightful and inspires lessons based on theme and variation in the everyday environment, creating variations on a familiar song, repetition in melody and an historical review of famous composers who wrote for the American Musical Theater. Theme: Transformation.
