About This Lesson
This tale comes originally from Wales but appears in different guises in many cultures. Indeed; the moral that underpins the story is one that finds an echo in the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1933 inaugural address to the American people when he said; “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” This inspirational theme is one that is also very applicable to schools as they strive to create a ‘can do’ ethos and to fill young minds with the confidence to tackle new challenges. It works very well as an assembly topic.
