About This Lesson

This is a thought provoking activity for students to be able to identify linear, quadratic and absolute value functions and what their graphs look like. I used the activity in my Algebra 1 class to introduce graphing calculators and classifying functions. This activity could be easily adapted to include exponential functions, cubic functions, etc. There are thought provoking questions to assess understanding of the concept. I have included sample answers to the three category questions (4 a & b). Question 5 is designed to make sure that students grasp the concepts. Enjoy!
