      About This Lesson

      Groundhog day is celebrated on February 2 across the United State and Canada.  It is based on the belief that on this day (Feb. 2nd)  the groundhog or woodchuck, comes up from his burrow after winter hibernation.  If the groundhog sees its shadow, there will be an early spring.
