About This Lesson

A set of tasks for non-fiction and fiction texts that can be used to follow up on a guided reading session or help prepare for the next one. I have these laminated in sets in my folders so I can easily set my groups doing different tasks. Topics also included; non-fiction.

Standards

Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas.
Assess how point of view or purpose shapes the content and style of a text.
Read and comprehend complex literary and informational texts independently and proficiently.
Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.

These are perfect! I have put each on a card stock strip and have placed those on a ring for easy access.

This is a great resource to help students respond to their books with more focus and if necessary reread to better comprehend text before completing task.

Thanks for sharing!!!!!! I teach 5th grade and I have low level writing students. I think these prompts are great!!!! The students are very bored with book logs, so these might get them interested in writing responses again. Brilliant!!

I really like the looks of this and hope to use it with my fifth graders to give them a choice to TRC question stems once a week or as we finish a book.
