About This Lesson

This NASA video segment features middle school students from Connecticut who demonstrate how to perform a hands-on activity about airplane wings. Students construct airplanes out of foam trays and test which wing design allows the aircraft to fly the farthest. Students use mathematics skills to calculate wing areas and aspect ratios, measure flight distances, and graph and analyze the results.
