About This Lesson

Activity: Between a rock and a hard place

Description | 1 hour

Media: Join us as we head out on a hunt for ghost gear. Learn how ghost gear results in microplastics that are eaten by animals at every level of the food chain. Then head over to a living laboratory with Chelsea Rochman to study where microplastics go in an ecosystem and how it impacts all the animals in it.

Activity: Plastic invasion - Whether plastic sinks or floats, it spells trouble for animals in the ocean. They can get entangled in it, cut themselves, or think it's food and try to eat it! In this activity, students use their critical thinking skills to explore the many ways marine life can be affected by plastics in their aquatic home.
