IF your child/student thinks that 20-16=16, this is the remedy for your visual learner

To help students subtract from "0" and to know when to borrow, have them make a fist each time they see a "0" in the top number. The fist represents that they have "nothing" and then they will know they must borrow from the number beside it.

These students are visual learners and this method helps them tremendously.
