About This Lesson
Students will explore the concepts of evolution and biodiversity by taking on the role of a bio-climatologist. Their goal will be to discuss how Earth’s environmental changes have been the primary driver of evolution. Students will examine how creating models of climate conditions can help make predictions for a species’ survival.
Students will complete group projects, explore a species of their choice, and deliver a presentation to the class providing an explanation of their species’ projected survival in the face of climate change. Students will cite evidence based on their exploration of Earth’s timeline and the fossil record to hypothesize their species’ closes relatives and how much longer they may be expected to survive using data they collect from the class.
