About This Lesson

After sharing the painting Concentric circles in a square, students will create their own concentric circles. Point out the grid in the painting. It's like an array. What would it look like if every student in our class created a square with concentric circles. Have squares pre-cut and distribute to students. Once students create their art, hang it in the hallway as a collaborative array. Administration loves this project! Variation: K and 1st graders can practice cutting, gluing while learning about contrasting colors by creating a cut paper collage. (last image)
