About This Lesson

In order to meet Federal Election Commission requirements, individuals running for president must officially declare their candidacy. This lesson has students learn about the significance of official campaign announcements and explore examples of candidate's campaign announcements. This lesson includes video clips of announcements from major candidates since the 2000 election. Using a jigsaw format or working alone, students will analyze the candidates' messages and compare them to each other. This lesson works well with flipped classes or classes with one-to-one devices.
