About This Lesson

In this activity students will understand why the sun rises in east and sets in the west, explore how the earth rotates and how long it takes for the earth to rotate, and discover that the stars appear to rise and set just like the sun does. This lesson plan is adapted from one originally developed by Cherilynn Morrow and Michael Zawaski, available from the Space Science Institute.
