The Lion And The Little Red Bird by Elisa Kleven. in the YouTube the author reads her beloved book to a child. This story was beloved by my children both in my home and school. It has a beautiful storyline of an unlikely friendship. This is a great book to explore what true friendship means. The book looks at how communication goes beyond oral language. It ia also wonderful to look at how art and music help us express and understand our emotions.
From the story: "The bird sang while the lion painted. She sang a song without any questions, full of color and joy. The lion had never heard anything so unusual and so pretty. Just listening made him happy."
Topics to explore might be: How does listening to music make you feel? Do you use music to express your emotions? How?
It is a wonderful story to dramatize and explore musical instruments with kids. Of course painting is always a wonderful creative outlet
