About This Lesson
Simple machining project for manual milling machine. Machine the plate to size, drill and tap the holes, stamp the numbers and letters. We purchase hot rolled steel and have the students use fly cutters and endmills to machine the plates to size. Layout the hole positions using precision layout techniques on a surface plate and scribe on a height gauge. We purchase the 5/16 and M8 bolts for each student. The bolts will screw into their respective holes and into the center hole but not into each others holes.
