About This Lesson
When we first found this project and its description we did not believe it would work. We built one to prove it and are impressed with the design. We have manufactured hundreds of these to give away to promote our machine shop. Most people love them. Attached is the blueprint and instructions to manufacture your own self-locking / machinist's trick bolt. It will screw in but locks up when you try to turn it out. We have had first year machining students manufacture this using a manual milling machine, 1/4 inch end-mill, and an indexer. Most students can complete the project in an hour.
