About This Lesson

This mini unit contains 5 lessons created for educators as they move to support their students in developing the skills to think critically about the principles of democratic governance through the lens of the resources featured on Democracy Web. 

Democracy Web is a unique collection of online resources, designed to help high school and college teachers illustrate key principles of democratic governance in a “compare and contrast” format that challenges students to think critically across cultural, historical and national contexts. Democracy Web can be accessed via https://new.democracyweb.org/

These lessons were adapted & created to support diverse learners in NYC based on the NYS Social Studies standards. The grade band for these lessons are Grades 7-12. The lessons can be easily adapted to meet the needs of all learners.
